Hello, there — I’m Sally!
I’m a place-based project manager and maximalist experiential designer.
Here are some of the projects and experiences that have shaped my life and work, starting with a few highlights.
SXSW
As an Austin-based design/build Project Director, South by Southwest is the biggest week of my year. Below are a handful of Art Seen Alliance’s SX projects, where I led design development, 2D artbook + 3D design approvals, estimates, contracts, client and vendor alignment, build team stand-ups, installation + removal logistics, and staffing — doing so for, on average, 6 concurrent SXSW pop-ups.
FORMULA ONE
Project managing these IBM x Ferrari and Crowdstrike F1 kits underscored my logistical expertise. I saw these kits through 2D and 3D design development, estimation, and signing. We designed them to modularly fit in a 26’ truck. Once built, I executed redeployment in Miami, Sonoma, Las Vegas, and Montreal for two annual circuits (and counting). Throughout the F1 season, I coordinated inventory management, quality control, new builds, load-in plans, freight forwarding, maintenance, customs clearance, staffing, booking travel, installation, removal, storage, and continuous problem solving.
ANATOMICAL ADVENTURE ARENA
Where Body and Mind Intertwine! This playscape dives into larger-than-life biological details on one side, while the other explores socio-emotional learning through reflective interactions. Kids can bounce on lung trampolines, then learn to breathe through anxiety —- they can swing on “bone-y knee” swings; then, exploring self-expression through somatic dance movements — through play, they discover how their bodies and minds work together to create an embodied sense of self. This concept won “Best Interactive Themed Experience” in the Entelechy Awards — my illustrations below, and read more here, including retail, wayfinding, competitive advantages, and programming concepts.
BLESSED FEST
As project manager and producer for 'Blessed Fest,' I orchestrated 22 hours of programming over one weekend, including 36 unique drag performers, poetry open mic, harvesting, arts n crafts, dancing, potlucks, zine making, tarot, costumes, mocktails stations, DJs, and a queer vendor market. With 12 fabricated show set pieces, 21 market vendors, 3 community brainstorming events, and countless beautiful memories, this event is one of my proudest creations that truly uplifted community and co-creation. The thesis recognition of excellence from SCAD as “Best in Show, All-Around Category” was the cherry on top.
